Take Me Back : Thailand

It was too long ago I was in Thailand with two of the best people in my life. The days and nights were beautiful and warm. There wasn’t a day without a dip in the pool or ocean. There wasn’t a night without a pina colada.

Right now in Melbourne, its rainy, windy and cold. I don’t hate the winter like some, but there are days when I forget what it feels like to have the sunshine on my skin and to sit outside with smell of flowers in the air. I miss those times when I’m at work and people are tracking muddy footprints through the store.

Today, I want to be taken to a place with the sun beaming, where I can wear no shoes and a flowing skirt. I miss the sunshine and experience of a new place and a different culture.

If I could be anywhere right now, I think I would be back in the pool at our Phuket hotel in Thailand, buying a cocktail and soaking up the afternoon sunshine.

P.S. And remember the time you got water damage to your camera making your pictures super fab? Good times… So, the only undamaged photos are below.

Saturday Street Style Envy : The more layers the better

This Saturday I’ve found my outfit inspiration from the wonderful layers worn in the New York winter (on the streets of course). While it’s not as cold in Melbourne as New York in the winter it is however, very cold at the moment, and I can’t bring myself to go outside without five jackets, three scarf’s and two pairs of pants. What I love about this look is the touch of fur, the dark green and pop of bright red. Who would have thought it could make such a fabulous combination? Plus the Gucci boots are enviable.
Keep warm Melbournians. As for the rest of you, think of us.

New Purchase: Mr Fill N Zip Twist

My new purchase was a long time coming and an impulse buy all in one.

I’ve been wanting a Deadly Ponies handbag for a long time (check a few posts back for proof). I found Mr Fill N Zip Twist in black on ebay, made an offer, got a bargain and she was mine. Before I knew it she was in my collection and I know this will be the first of many.

I’ve never found a brand I’ve loved every design so much!
She may be second hand, but she is like new. And the quality is to die for!

I’d say my most coveted pieces are always handbags, but my collection won’t seem completed (or even started) without the addition of one of these babies.

These amazing handbags are made in New Zealand designed by Liam Bowden.
And Liam, if your reading this, please send me free handbags.

Melbourne.

I ❤️ Melbourne

Today I spent a day in Melbourne. I’ve always loved going into the city, but today I felt it’s full appeal. I spent the day drinking fantastic coffee, seeking out vintage clothing, looking at books and art, eating delicious burgers, more shopping and snacking on waffles.

I love spending my days eat and shopping. Probably my favourite things. Melbourne gives you are perfect backdrop to do both, while looking at fantastic culture and art all at the same time.

In the picture, you’ll see a photo I took at Hosier Lane today, in the city of Melbourne.

Obsession: Sweet Charity

What do you do when you realise that something you want is so out of reach?

I think we have all felt at times that there is something so beautiful, and yet, it is so beautiful that you realise it may never be yours.

While this thought came to me while looking through the fashion magazines and dreaming of Christian Louboutin’s Sweet Charity Handbag (would set me back more than I have in all my bank accounts put together) it made me realise this thought is in many things I want. I dream of working at a fashion magazine. I want a great internship so I can get that job I dream of.

But all of these things are far off. They feel so far away, such a dream, that it doesn’t seem like they will ever happen, or that they will ever be mine. There is no way to know what is out of reach, but I’m too young to think that anything is out of my reach. I’m already closer than I was last year.

At least I know what I want to do now.

And even better, if I do get that dream job, I might have that dream paycheck that will get me the (then very out of season but still so wonderful) dream bag.

Fashion magazine massacre

I love my fashion magazines. However I live in a small apartment that can hardly keep up with my buying and spending.
I find solace in getting rid of clutter by cutting out my favourite parts and pasting them into my Kikki K notebook. Collaging my favourite pieces makes me feel like I’m not just throwing away and recycling my favourite magazines but letting them live on. We might say goodbye to last seasons fashions, but I hold on to the ones I love.

Also it’s a nice outlet to see it in my book when I can’t afford to see it in my wardrobe.
